Dance Class at Children of Glory School of the Arts

After School Classes Beginning Feb. 2

Grades 1-6

Choir – Ages 6-12

Choir - Children of Glory School of ArtsSinging is a vital part of worship and musicianship. In beginning choir children receive instruction in a fun setting where relationships are an important part of learning. This class focuses on learning the vocal skills necessary to bring voices into unity making beautiful sounds and harmonies while singing from a heart focused on worship. Fundamentals of music reading, rhythmic reading, and vocal technique are also taught as a part of beginning choir.

Level I Piano Keyboard – Ages 7-9 (Limit 5 in each class)
Level I Piano Keyboard – Ages 10-12 (Limit 5 in each class)

Beginning students will learn basic information about piano keyboard that will allow them to play simple chords and melodies and move comfortably on the piano. At the end of this class, students will know chord progressions and scales in the key of C and G as well as the fundamentals of reading notes and rhythms. The knowledge of chord structure and scales will facilitate development in other keys and allow them the immediate satisfaction of playing songs.

Private Piano

Private lessons are for students willing to dedicate 30 min/day/ 5 days/ week to developing their knowledge and skills on the piano. Students are given a solid musical foundation for success as a professional or non-professional musician. Classical principles are taught that may easily and effectively be applied to many other styles as well as instruments.

Private Voice

For serious singers who are already engaged in some level of performance, willing to commit to regular practice to develop their God-given voices. Singers are taught to develop their natural voices, not to imitate other singers or sounds. Emphasis is placed on building a strong voice by using the classical method of pure vowel production. Once a strong foundation has been established the student will move with ease into different styles.

Worship Team

Young instrumentalists and singers are brought together in a collaborative environment to learn worship music and to be taught the fundamentals of working together as a music ensemble. This class teaches the importance of clear communication as musicians and learning to achieve unity of purpose during corporate worship. Prayer is emphasized as the most important tool to achieve unity and oneness of heart in worship.

Vocal Techniques – Ages 8-14

In this class students learn the basics of music as it applies to singers. Beginning sight-reading, fundamental vocal technique, vocal styles, and intonation are a few of the subjects that will be introduced. The class setting will facilitate learning as singers listen to others while techniques are implemented in class. Singers will encourage each other in an enjoyable environment.

Piano Keyboard for Young Worship Leaders (Limit 5)

This class is structured for young singers who also want to lead worship from the piano keyboard. A majority of class time will be dedicated to singing and playing chord progressions used in worship music.

Foundations of Dance – Ages 6-12

This class is designed for students who want to dance but have little or no dance experience.  Students will learn proper posture, stretching, technique and movement to different types of worship music.
